How a build goes

From the box to the shelf

Read the book nook guide
01

Measure the shelf

Check the finished size on the product page against the space where the piece will stand.

02

Lay out the parts

Read the instructions through once, check the parts list and clear a table you can leave.

03

Build in sittings

An hour or two at a time. Let the glue set between stages and test lights before walls close.

04

Light it, shelve it

Slide it between your books, switch it on at dusk and leave the room lamp off.

Every shelf deserves one small lit window.

We pick the kits that end up there, describe them plainly and stand behind them.

Pick the build that suits

Book nooks

A scene between your books

An alley, a bookshop or a library corridor in depth, standing upright like a volume. Many glow from inside, so the shelf becomes the light in the room.

Mechanical models

Gears you assemble yourself

Clocks, cars and contraptions that turn when you wind or crank them. You see every gear go in, so you know exactly why it moves.

Image to make: A miniature room box with a tiny lit lamp and armchair, photographed at eye level so it reads like a real room, dusk tones
Miniature houses

A room you furnish piece by piece

Room boxes and tiny shop fronts, built and dressed down to the chair and the teacup. Small enough for a desk, detailed enough to look at for years.

Questions

Asked before the first kit

More in the full FAQ.

What is a book nook?
A book nook is a small lit scene that stands between your books. You build it from a kit, it sits upright on the shelf like a thick volume, and it shows a tiny alley, shop or room in depth, usually with a light inside.
Are these kits made for children?
No, these kits are chosen for adults and older teens. Many have small parts, fine detail and long instructions. Check the age guidance stated on each product page, and keep loose parts away from young children while you build.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery takes 8 to 16 days to US addresses. Kits ship from our suppliers' warehouses overseas, so plan around that window, and order a little earlier when the kit is a gift for a set date.
Is shipping free?
Shipping is free on US orders over $79. Below that amount, the shipping cost is shown at checkout before you pay, so you always see the full total before you confirm your order.
What is your return policy?
You can return unused items within 30 days of delivery. A kit should be unbuilt, with its parts still in the sheets. Email us first and we will explain the next steps for your order.
