Feeders, baths and bird houses.
Seed feeders, hummingbird feeders, window feeders, baths, nest boxes, poles and hooks. Each one described plainly, so you know what you are getting. We do not sell seed.
A first station, four steps.
Pick the spot
Somewhere you can see from a chair, near shrubs or a tree, with a clear view around it.
Hang one feeder
One feeder is enough to learn who visits. Fill it part way so seed stays fresh.
Add shallow water
A bath one to two inches deep, refreshed every day or two, set in the open.
Keep it clean
Wash feeders every two weeks and scrub the bath weekly. That is most of the work.
Feeders, baths and houses.
Watch first, then add one thing at a time.
A good yard grows slowly. Start with a feeder and water, see who comes, and build from there.
Three ways to look closer.
A feeder on the glass
Suction cups hold a clear feeder on a clean window. No pole, no tree, no yard needed. A good first feeder for apartments and kitchens.
Water is half of it
Birds drink and bathe in shallow water. A hanging, deck or ground bath, kept fresh every day or two, gives a yard a second reason for a visit.
Up before spring
Nest boxes go up in late winter or early spring, before nesting begins. Mount one out of the afternoon sun and clean it out each fall.
Spring is the busy season.
Feeders and baths are used all year, but spring is when yards fill up. Delivery takes 8 to 16 days, so set up a little ahead.
Shop poles and hooksTwo questions, answered well.
Where to put a bird feeder
Height, distance from windows, shade, cover and squirrels: the placement choices that decide whether a feeder gets used.
