How pour over works
Hot water is poured by hand over ground coffee sitting in a filter. It drains through the bed and into the cup or server below. You control the ratio, the grind and the speed of the pour, which is why the same beans can taste clearer than from a machine.
A starting recipe
Use 20 g of coffee to 320 g of water, a 1:16 ratio. Grind medium fine, bloom with 40 g of water for 30 to 45 seconds, then pour the rest in slow stages. Aim to finish in 3 to 4 minutes and adjust the grind from there.
Care
Rinse every part with warm water after brewing and let it dry fully before stacking. Check the listing above for whether a piece is dishwasher safe. Rinse a paper filter with hot water before brewing to warm the dripper and remove any papery taste.
